Abstract:
Chronic inflammatory arthritis mostly affecting the sacroiliac joints and spine, which can lead to bone fusion of the spine, is the hallmark of ankylosing spondylitis . The most prevalent symptoms of the condition are growing spinal stiffness and chronic back pain. Rest relieves symptoms, other than inactivity increases them. According to Ayurveda, ankylosing spondylitis cannot be directly linked to any particular condition. Still, it might be linked to Gambhir Vatarakta based on illness symptoms. This article attempts to clarify ankylosing spondylitis and how it is treated in Ayurveda using Panchkarma procedures such as Basti and certain internal drugs that relieve Gambhir Vatarakta symptoms.
