Beyond the Blood-Brain Barrier: A Clinical Appraisal of Nasya Karma as a Targeted Therapy for Stress, Anxiety, and Depression

Dr. Vaishali Gupta, Dr. Vaishali Chaudhari

Vol. No. 21, Special Issue No 2 2026

Abstract:

The Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) has been the major hurdle in the field of neuropsychiatric pharmacology, as the central nervous system (CNS) remains inaccessible to almost 98% of the small molecular weight therapeutic agents. This has led to an increase in systemic doses, causing metabolic toxicity, which in turn has resulted in suboptimal therapeutic outcomes in the management of stress, anxiety, and depression.
