Abstract:
Low birth weight (LBW), defined by the World Health Organization as a birth weight of less than 2500 grams, is a major public health concern globally. Despite advancements in maternal and neonatal care, LBW remains a significant contributor to neonatal morbidity and mortality. Infants born with LBW are at higher risk of infections, developmental delays, and long-term health complications. In Nepal, LBW prevalence remains stagnant despite government initiatives, with regional variations observed across the country. Identifying maternal risk factors associated with LBW is crucial to developing effective interventions and policies to reduce its incidence.
